North West award for Volunteers Service project

volunteer awardThe CMFT Volunteers Service recently entered their improvement project for the 'Excellence in Volunteer Management Awards' from the National Association of Voluntary Services Managers (NAVSM).  They are delighted to have received news that they have won the North West Region Award.

The project saw the launch of a new customised recruitment database allowing the service to operate a paperless recruitment process and revolutionise the management of volunteers across the Trust.

To accompany this, the team have worked alongside our Organisational Development and Training team to develop a tailored recruitment and training day, specific to volunteers' needs.  This has been supported through the use of the Trust's online E-Learning service, allowing the Volunteers Service to dramatically increase recruitment.

Stephen Hodges, Head of Patient Services, said: "Managing an extensive and diverse group of volunteers in an organisation of our size can be a unique challenge.  The introduction of an online system has brought the service into the 21st century and created a user-friendly and effective process for volunteers."

The winning entry has now been submitted for the National Award, the outcome of which will be announced at the beginning of September.
